Wigs You Wish They Hadn\\’t Used In The Movies

It takes a lot of effort and preparation on the part of an actor to get into the character that he or she is supposed to be playing. The preparation not only involves getting the dialogue, the accent and the body nuances right, but also means getting into the look of the character.

Sometimes, getting into the look will involve changing your hairstyle and color. It may so happen that an actor may be shooting simultaneously for two films. In such a situation, the actor has to take care to maintain the continuity of both the films and hence he or she may have to resort to a wig in one movie and style his or her natural hair for the other movie.

While the actors have no problems with getting accustomed to wigs, there are some wigs that have ruined the role despite a good performance.

This article takes a look at some of the worst wigs seen on screen.

1.Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls: Remember Regina George, the Queen Bee of The Plastics – well yeah, she wore a wig. Rachel McAdams, who played Regina George was working on another movie at the same time as Mean Girls and so, she couldn\\’t dye her hair blonde as the character required. In order to play the role to perfection, she wore a wig while filming her parts. But the wig did not play its role well. The lifeless blonde wig did nothing to accentuate her performance as the horrible and wily, Regina George.

2.Ginnifer Goodwin in He\\’s Just Not That Into You: Ginnifer played the role of the romantically vulnerable Gigi Phillips to perfection. In real life Ginnifer sports a short cropped hairdo that really suits her. However, for this film, she had to wear an unflattering bob style wig. With that hair, no wonder she couldn\\’t find love in the movie, until the very end.

3.Emilia Clarke in Game of Thrones: Emilia Clarke brought to life the character of Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled daughter of the king. The character is supposed to have silver hair but the wig that the wardrobe department came up with was atrocious. It didn\\’t impact her performance but it did make the viewer want to yank the wig out of the way.

4.Christina Aguilera in Burlesque: Christina Aguilera made her debut as an actress in this movie. Her character Ali Rose is club dancer and for this role, Aguilera had to wear different wigs for the performances. However, the hair that has been shown as her original hair in the movie is also a wig and though the color did seem a mellow change from her own peroxide blonde hair, it still looked like a wig, which was a disappointment.

There are several movies that have made the stars look like a joke because of the wrong hairdo. Most actors have managed to give a stellar performance despite the wig. However, the entire look and feel of the character is lost due to one wardrobe department error.
